Two of the sponsors of the Ibrox club have paid for the travel and lodging expenses of a Rangers supporter who endured a taxing overnight trip to Dundee just to arrive at the stadium when the game was canceled.
Parts of the Dens Park surface were rendered unusable by the rain, so the ardent supporters of the light blue legion left their home in Wales on Saturday night and embarked on a nearly five thousand mile journey for the Sunday noon kickoff.
Following his social media story, the punter received a lot of support from fans, and the team even arranged for his little kid to meet some first team stars, which helped to lessen his disappointment. The fan went on to describe how, while traveling back to Wales to meet up with the team after Rob Page had called him up for their pivotal Euro 2024 play-off match against Finland, he happened to run across Rabbi Matondo at the airport.
However, the fan now claims that some generous Rangers sponsors have stepped in after the SPFL announced that the rearranged game against Dundee will take place on Wednesday, April 10. “Huge thanks to @RangersFC partners Rhino Express & Pipeline Energy Solutions who reached out and graciously paid for our hotel & travel expenses following Sunday’s tragedy,” he wrote.
The fan shared a picture of himself and his little son leaving on a bus in the middle of the night on Sunday along with the caption, “Dundee away starts now.” Not everyone is cut out for title chases, but neither are overnight buses to Scotland. And TWELVE hours later, he posted a tweet from Dundee saying that there would be a pitch inspection for the midday kickoff on Tayside, complete with a sequence of facepalm emojis.
