“I am in the best moment of my career,” says Sarabia

Pablo Sarabia of Wolves, who was called up to the Spanish national team for the first time since December 2022, feels that this is the best time in his career.

The forward took some time to get used to the Premier League after his arrival in January, but under Gary O’Neil, he has been in outstanding form for the Old Gold this season. The 31-year-old believes he has a lot to give an otherwise youthful Spain team for their friendlies against Brazil and Colombia this month, though, because of his additional experience from his time spent in England, France, Portugal, and his native country.

After rejoining the Spanish team

“It is true that there is always hope. I’m thrilled to be back here with the national team, to have another chance to enjoy it with my teammates, and to have this opportunity.

“I work very hard every day to try to bring my contribution to my team, so when I found it, I was very happy and it was a huge rush.”

“My life has undergone numerous changes over a protracted period of time, and I have been embracing and adjusting to the new circumstances as they have arisen.

“Throughout my career, not just this season, I have experienced numerous highs and lows. Even though there have been good and bad times, representing my country is always a pleasure and a reward. It is hard not to be beaming and ecstatic right now.

I arrived at Wolves with a coach in tow, in what was, for both of us, a completely different league, from the first minute we left. My personal life experienced some changes, and we had to adjust. We had to adjust to a new diet, to breaks, and to the rhythm, which is ultimately very different from the leagues I had played in.

“I’m having a great season because I had to do a different job at Wolves than what I was more used to when I was in Paris or in the previous teams that I was in.”

“I believe that the team and I have a very positive dynamic and I am extremely happy.” Personally, I’m rather proud of myself for being able to adjust to this kind of competition.

Regarding facing Brazil’s Joao Gomes

Since our call-ups were announced after theirs, we had a conversation about it when the national team call-ups were announced. It came to my attention that he would likewise be facing us. As a fantastic player who is enjoying a fantastic season, I believe he has a bright future ahead of him.

This will be a tough test against a very strong national squad, but we will undoubtedly try to use our tools and game philosophy to carry out that model once more.

Regarding having performed around Europe

There are two sides to this. Personally, I find it quite enriching to be able to adjust to any nation, culture, or location.

“I believe that adds another element to football, which is my ability to comprehend, adjust to various situations, and use my experience working with younger people, on the field, or in any other way I can to help.

Regarding being a key player for the Spain team

“As for me, I’m thrilled to see such young players succeed on the national team because it indicates that Spain is doing well in youth development and grassroots football, and it’s critical that the Spanish product is performing well.

“Although I am 31 years old, I feel like I am at a really wonderful place in my life, therefore I don’t feel old. Maybe this is the best moment of my career, in my opinion. Although there is a significant age gap, I believe that we all strive to provide the youth and experience that are so important to any team.

Regarding Spain’s prospects for Euro 2024

“I don’t enjoy discussing who is and isn’t my favorite. Every match is unique, in my opinion. However, we must concentrate on our excellent national team since that is what we have.

“In the first game, we have to concentrate on ourselves; in the second, we have to concentrate on anything we come across. The only thing that can happen to us if we carry around the stigma of being favorites is weakness, and that is of no use to us at all.

We will get closer to winning every game if we just concentrate on our work and do what we know we must do. That should be our only goal.
