Clement finds a potential development area that might end the Celtic title fight.

In an effort to further enhance the Rangers, Philippe Clement wants to see each outfield player directly contribute to goals.

Following his October 2017 takeover at Ibrox from Michael Beale, the Belgian has performed admirably.

With Jack Butland being the only person who deviates from his strategy, Clement nevertheless thinks there is more to come from his end going forward.

According to the Daily Record [18 March], he stated, “I want danger to come from everywhere, from all the positions, when I play football.”

“Everyone scores goals—our center backs, full backs, defensive midfielders, wingers, strikers, No. 10, and everyone else.”
That seems like the hardest thing to stop to me. It is simpler to end if there is only one, two, or three players posing a threat.

“We need different qualities for that, but I want a team that we can use every game to look for our opponent’s weak points and exploit them.”
“The players have stepped into this story, that’s why we do finishing exercises with everybody, not only with our attacking players, and they are getting better and better at that in all the squad. That is a major thing, I want a sort of total football with everyone involved.

“Only Jack, he is the only one who will not score, because I don’t want to be that focused on everybody scoring that he starts to get the penalties or something! That could be a trick to do that, but that is not the idea. And Tav (James Tavernier) would not be happy I don’t think.”
Rangers have scored 64 goals in the Scottish Premiership this season, which is seven fewer than Celtic.
Nonetheless, the Gers have a stronger defensive record than Celtic, having given up only 16 goals to their 23.

The rivals are now tied at +48 in a season where the top two might easily be separated by goal differential.

It relieves some of the pressure on striker Cyriel Dessers by having other players contribute goals.
Finding the winning combination in a close game, as opposed to a player’s contribution in a 5-0 victory, is what makes all the difference.

It’s encouraging to see Clement continuing to search for ways to get better, even after having an amazing debut with the Rangers.
