It can exclusively be revealed by TEAMtalk that Wolves intend to offload striker Fabio Silva, who is presently enjoying success on loan at Rangers, in the summer.
Despite paying Wolves a record-breaking £35 million to acquire the 21-year-old from Porto in 2020, he hasn’t been able to establish himself in the starting lineup.
After spending the last four years on loan at Anderlecht, PSV Eindhoven, and now Rangers, Silva is not expected to be in Gary O’Neil’s long-term plans, TEAMtalk can confirm.
Wolves want about £15 million for Silva during the summer transfer window, according to sources close to TEAMtalk.
The Rangers are really happy with Silva’s initial efforts. He has so far made 14 appearances for the Scottish team, tallying four goals.
The Wolves loanee has been crucial to Rangers’ pursuit of the championship as they try to catch up to fierce rivals Celtic by one point.
For the remainder of the season, Phillipe Clement is hoping that the young forward can continue to play well.
Rangers will not receive a second loan from Silva
Rangers would really like to hang onto Silva, but according to TEAMtalk sources, Wolves’ £15 million asking price is well beyond their means.
Next season, Glasgow would like to bring in the Portuguese star again on loan, but Wolves would like to let him go permanently.
Rangers have little chance of retaining Silva since Wolves are unwilling to pay any portion of his £50,000 weekly wage for another season.
The money that Wolves get from the sale of Silva will be used to acquire a new striker to compete with Hwang Hee-chan and Matheus Cunha, who are both out with injuries.
TEAMtalk is aware that one player Wolves are closely monitoring is Eddie Nketiah, a forward for Arsenal. He is also attracting interest from Fulham, Brentford, and Crystal Palace.
The Gunners management has told the 24-year-old that he is free to sign with another team since they are unable to promise him regular playing time in the upcoming campaign.
Mikel Arteta is eager to add a new front man, which would further cut into Nketiah’s already meager playing time. Since the year’s beginning, he has yet to make a single start in the Premier League.
Everything suggests that Wolves will sell Silva, so it would be intriguing to watch whether any Premier League teams decide to give him a try in the upcoming months.
