A Newcastle United player makes a significant announcement on his future and is expected to transfer in the summer.

This summer, Loris Karius, the goalie for Newcastle United, plans to transfer to Italy.

With his St. James’ Park contract set to expire this summer, the 30-year-old has signed with the Italian agency Circum. Karius has only played in two competitive games for Newcastle after joining the team as a free agent in 2022.

The former Liverpool player has only appeared in games when Nick Pope and Martin Dubravka aren’t available, placing him third among goalies. He made his Premier League debut in a 4-1 loss against Arsenal in February 2023, almost exactly a year after making his debut in the 2-0 Carabao Cup final loss to Manchester United.

Alessandro Tocci and Claudio Marchisio, a former midfielder for Juventus and Italy, are in charge of Karius’ new agency. Currently residing in Italy with their child is the goalkeeper’s partner, Diletta Leotta.

Karius also said that it would be “great” to join an Italian club.

“Regardless of my family’s proximity, it would be a great solution if there were good options for me,” Karius told Gazzetta dello Sport. “Serie A is something I’ve always watched and find fascinating, but it’s too soon to discuss the future.

I am good friends with Claudio [Marchisio], and I believe he is the right person. I want to reclaim my position as the top dog, which I held for the previous two years. I play well, and I am confident in my ability to perform at the best levels once more.

They had a starting goalie when I got to Newcastle, so it wasn’t easy for me. I train hard every day because I want to play more, for sure.

The hardest thing about being a goalie is that you have to be prepared and maintain your positive attitude even when you are not playing.

You’re by yourself in the goal; when you score, everyone pays attention, but when you accomplish something good, nobody notices. Being intellectually stronger than others is a need for this particular game.

Given that Dubravka is already in goal and Pope is expected to return before the conclusion of the season, Karius may have already played his final game for Newcastle.
