In anticipation of a busy summer, Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri was linked to Liverpool last week. This past weekend, Ally McCoist praised Ait-Nouri.
A new left-back is needed since Greek defender Konstantinos Tsimikas has never been trusted with the starting position and Andy Robertson, who is now in his thirties, has struggled with injuries over the previous 12 months.
According to reports, Liverpool has prioritized the Algerian player this summer and is reportedly targeting Ait-Nouri. Although the move has been approved by Jurgen Klopp, the Reds will have competition for him.
In fact, Ait-Nouri, who is thought to be valued at a cost of £50 million, has attracted interest from teams like Chelsea and both Manchester clubs. A player that Conor Coady used to like, complimenting his “bags of tricks.”
With two goals in injury time, Coventry defeated Wolves 3-2 on Saturday, sending Wolves out of the FA Cup. Ait-Nouri was impressed, though. He was responsible for Wolves’ opening two goals.
Nevertheless, McCoist was drawn to his assistance. Hugo Bueno’s goal for Wolves set up McCoist, who co-commentates for ITV Sport, who was taken aback by his run from inside his own half.
“Ait-Nouri, what a great performance. Inside the way he interprets it. As McCoist scored his sixth goal of the season, he commented, “This pass, ridiculous-completely takes two defenders out, magnificent.”
Ait-Nouri shone on a day that was frustrating for Wolves, and you have to believe Liverpool was watching along. The trip on Saturday might entice Liverpool come summertime.
