Rangers boss Philippe Clement is sticking with his position as the team exits the Europa League.

Despite having his hands bound going into Rangers’ second-leg match against Benfica, Philippe Clement was nonetheless pleased with his players’ efforts.

The Gers manager was forced to wait until much later in the game to make changes since he was short on choices in midfield and the attacking line, and his team was still far from being fully healthy.

Philippe Clement was able to highlight the positive aspects of Rangers’ two matches against Benfica in an interview with TNT following the game.

The dominant emotion emanating from Ibrox appeared to be pride, expressed by both the players and the manager.

Undoubtedly, we were not successful that evening, but considering our efforts during the two matches, Benfica could not have contended that we had prevailed.

An opinion expressed by Philippe Clement upon the Rangers’ departure:

“I believe that each and every Rangers supporter ought to feel proud, including myself.

The truth is that squad budgets are tight, we are rebuilding a squad, and it is evident to all that everyone is working hard.

“Everyone who watched the game at the stadium.

“Therefore, we need to keep doing that. We’ve seen everyone grow over the last few months, and all of the Rangers players are giving it their all on the field.”

It’s true what Clement says—this team is expanding even with half of its members absent.

Crucially, the entire top three and our strongest tenth position.

This kind of situation prevents any squad from playing to their best ability.

It is a reality rather than an excuse.

What is encouraging, though, are the advancements Clement has made with so many injuries in such a short amount of time.

Did anyone really think we would be able to compete with a team like Benfica only a few months after we suffered crushing losses to PSV Eindhoven and Aris Limassol in the Champions League play-offs?

We didn’t have the breaks, but we can’t condemn the players’ efforts or the manager’s optimism in a closely contested match; luck must be on your side.

Our time Will come.
