Cantwell’s hamstring injury kept him out of the last five Rangers games in all competitions, but on Wednesday he joined the team for training.
The midfield player is now expected to be included in the team to play Benfica at Ibrox tonight in the second leg of their Europa League last-16 match.
Bell stated that Cantwell’s comeback is a major boost for Rangers ahead of the crucial game. The tie is now in the balance following last week’s 2-2 draw in Portugal.
Although the midfielder may not be well enough to start, the former Rangers player acknowledged that having him on the bench will be a great alternative should Rangers need a spark.
“I think he is a great option to have and you would always want him in the squad,” Bell stated on Clyde 1’s Super Score Board
“I don’t believe he will participate right away.
“Nevertheless, he can provide that little spark if you have him on the bench
