Dez Bryant, a former wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys, vented his annoyance on Twitter on Tuesday on the team’s lack of action this summer. So far this offseason, every team in the NFC East has made at least one big move.
The New York Giants signed a few offensive linemen in NFL free agency and traded for Brian Burns, an outside linebacker, from the Carolina Panthers. In NFL free agency, Philadelphia signed running back Saquon Barkley to a three-year contract. Austin Ekeler, a running back, and Tyler Biadasz, an offensive lineman, were both signed by the Washington Commanders during the NFL offseason.
Dallas hasn’t yet made any significant moves during the NFL free agency season. Tuesday afternoon, Dez Bryant discussed the Cowboys’ offseason thus far on Twitter, writing:
“Dak, get ready to shoulder the blame because, barring a miracle, I don’t see any help coming your way.” During free agency, every team in the NFC East improved, but not the Cowboys. The draft won’t be sufficient.
Dallas won the NFC East and concluded the previous season with a 12-5 record. Before the Green Bay Packers ambushed them in the playoffs, they were the second seed in the NFC. The Cowboys need to make some personnel adjustments, and they will have needs in the 2024 NFL Draft.
A wide receiver to relieve CeeDee Lamb’s load, offensive line support, and defensive line support are some of the assets they may select in the NFL Draft. In the NFL Draft of 2024, the Dallas Cowboys will be selected with the 24th overall pick. It will be interesting to watch whatever direction they choose to take with that choice.
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has been held accountable by many for the team’s past misfortune. Dallas hasn’t played in the NFC Championship Game or won the Super Bowl in a few decades. During last year’s regular season, Prescott performed at an MVP caliber.
During the previous season, Dak Prescott of Dallas completed 69.5% of his throws for 4,516 yards, 36 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. Additionally, on 55 carries, he gained 242 yards of total yardage and two touchdowns, averaging 4.4 yards per carry.
Spotrac indicates that Prescott’s 2024 salary cap hit is $59,455,000. This is presumably the reason Dallas has been reluctant to sign players. Dez Bryant, a former wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys, is correct when he says that Prescott will be held accountable for the team’s inaction. The Cowboys have more serious issues than just the quarterback position since they always seem to be the ones that break apart.
