After defeating Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, Leeds United defeated Ipswich Town 2-1 to cap off a nearly flawless weekend. Kieran McKenna responded to the result.
Leeds had a great start to the weekend. Following the first half of Wednesday’s pressure, Patrick Bamford emerged at the back post to head home Junior Firpo’s exquisite low cross.
Daniel Farke hailed it as “perfect” assistance. The Italians scored in the second half thanks to a fantastic goal by Bamford, Georginio Rutter, and Willy Gnonto. a 2-0 victory and 12 victories in 13 league games.
Ipswich, who played next on Saturday just after midday, was put under much more pressure. It appeared as though Kieffer Moore had guided Ipswich to victory when they traveled to Wales to play Cardiff.
However, there was dramatic late-night behavior. Cardiff scored in the 100th minute to win the match, following a 95th-minute equalizer. McKenna offered his assessment on Leeds’ current position, which is second with nine games remaining.
Who can say? The truth is, we aren’t considering a promotion race. Do the best we can, keeping just ourselves, our quest, and the next game in mind. There were some areas where we could have done better.
The second half was quite effective. According to YEP, McKenna stated, “Whether we won today, drew today, or regrettably lost today, it wouldn’t change anything that we focus on or work on next week.
What a Leeds weekend that was. Ipswich was not the only team to lose; Leicester also dropped points with a 2-2 draw at Hull, which is still a respectable result considering how well Hull has performed this season.
With nine league games remaining, the Foxes lead Leeds by just three points at this moment. Leeds currently has the best of the top four clubs’ momentum. There are still many surprises this season.
