At Ibrox, Celtic’s combo of Scales and Lagerbielke might repeat history.

Lagerbielke couldn’t possibly be worse than what we have right now, can he? Is it possible that Gustaf will play with Liam Scales at Ibrox twice this season?

We are quite low on cover in the center back position with Maik Nawrocki and CCV both sidelined once more.

The matchup between our central defense duo, Stephen Welsh and Liam Scales, versus Livingston yesterday proved to be a comedy of errors. While both players put in a lot of effort, they don’t have the qualities we want at the core of our defense.

This season, Liam Scales has exceeded expectations, but a big part of that has to do with playing next to CCV, and it’s fair to say that he seems lost without him. In contrast, Stephen Welsh, like Anthony Ralston, is essentially a squad player. Both can be counted on to give their all and play when called upon.

Scales and Welsh both appeared extremely unremarkable yesterday and battled against a team that was rooted at the bottom of the table, which speaks for itself. Meanwhile, do you recall Gustaf Lagerbielke? It defies logic that one of the most highly regarded defenders to emerge from the Allsvenskan, a Swedish international, is sitting on the bench.

Brendan Rodgers observes him more intently than any of us do throughout training, so he can’t possibly be worse than what we have right now, can he? Due to a lack of backup, the club ultimately prevented his loan move to Italy during the January transfer window. Why don’t we act out his role? Brendan Rodgers has made a number of odd choices this campaign.

Scales and Lagerbielke were our central defense duo in the 1-0 victory last September, the previous time Celtic visited Ibrox. Isn’t it moving in the direction of that occurring once more?
