Spurs player Son Heung-min responds to a post uploaded by Joe Rodon following Leeds United’s victory.

After Leeds United defeated Sheffield Wednesday, Son Heung-min of Tottenham liked a post on Instagram made by Joe Rodon, a loanee from the Whites.

On Friday night (8 March), Daniel Farke’s team defeated the Owls 2-0 at Hillsborough, earning a crucial three points in the promotion battle.

The game-winning goals came from Wilfried Gnonto and Patrick Bamford, while Rodon’s strong defensive play again contributed to his team’s clean sheet.

After the victory, the Wales international shared two photos of himself celebrating on the field to Instagram. He captioned the photos with the Leeds team’s colors—yellow circle and blue heart emojis—following the hashtag #plus three (9 March).

Son was one among many celebrities who liked Rodon’s tweet; other stars who expressed their admiration for the center-back included Archie Gray, Ethan Ampadu, and fellow loanee Connor Roberts.

Thousands of supporters, including his fellow professionals, urged the Welshman to stay at Elland Road permanently by adding likes to their posts and flooding the comments section with their requests.

The South Korean captain of Spurs, Son, has evidently been observing Rodon’s impressive play for the Whites from a distance. This may indicate one of two things: either Ange Postecoglou will be advised to give the defender another chance, or Rodon’s value will increase significantly.

Given the evident enthusiasm in Rodon’s celebration, Farke will probably want him to stay, and the 26-year-old’s post implies he could as well.
