Pundit stunned by “absolutely magnificent” moment in West Ham United vs. Burnley match

Following their 2-1 loss to Burnley at the London Stadium on Sunday, March 10, Sky Sports pundit Aaron McLean remarked that UK West Ham gave up a “absolutely magnificent” goal.

A fantastic long-range strike from Chelsea loanee David Datro Fofana put the lowly Clarets behind the goal after just 11 minutes.

West Ham was trailing 2-1 at the interval after Lucas Paqueta’s own goal put the Hammers further behind. The score was tied at one point by Konstantinos Mavropanos.

The 21-year-old Fofana, who is on loan from Chelsea, has a really amazing song. McLean acknowledged as much while speaking on Sky Sports News on March 10.

“He receives the ball at a distance of roughly thirty yards, steps between Kalvin Phillips and Nayef Aguerd, and then launches the ball from 25 yards out into the goal, smashing it over Alphonse Areola’s head and into the net….”

This is a magnificent strike that is nothing short of what Burnley deserves because Burnley has been leading the game and, despite West Ham’s poor start, they have ultimately taken the lead.

Danny Ings believed he had scored in the last moments to save a point for the team, but it was disregarded.

The Hammers’ performance at London Stadium was far from stellar, and it was certainly not the kind of start they were hoping for following their devastating 1-0 loss to Freiburg in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 match.

From a West Ham perspective, however, Fofana’s long-range shot put the visitors ahead. There are moments when you just have to accept that you have given up a fantastic strike.

However, given the background of the Hammers’ defeat in Freiburg, a match in which they truly ought to have prevailed, it was nonetheless a concerning start to the match.

However, Fofana made a really admirable effort, and in situations like that, you just have to accept what has happened and hold your hands up.
