The defender took advantage of the lost ball inside the area to score the first goal for the visitors with an incredible overhead kick.
Any player, let alone a defense, would have been proud of the finish. The Dutchman then contributed to Wycombe’s 2-1 victory by helping them to the finish.
Following the match, Lonwijk stated: “I didn’t think I just did it; fortunately, the ball went in.”
“When I was younger, I played strike, but I haven’t done that in a long; at the time, it was just a gut instinct.”
Since there was nothing else I could do, I figured I would give it a shot and see if it would work. Fortunately, it did.
The younger Wolves players are having a great season, even if it’s evident that the first team is doing well.
Lonwijk is just one player who is enjoying a successful season. While on loan at F.C. Famalicão in Portugal, Chiquinho is another player who has excelled. Earlier this year in the Portuguese league, the winger also scored an incredible overhead kick.
Furthermore, a number of young Wolves players have appeared for Gary O’Neil this season.
With a 2-1 victory over Fulham at Molineux, Nathan Fraser—the most well-known player—was given his complete Premier League debut.
As long as guys like Lonwijk continue to produce, Wolves have a bright future, and they will eventually be given a chance to start in the starting lineup.
