A fresh sack position from the board indicates that Brendan Rodgers is not a “long-term” option for Celtic.

Brendan Rodgers is not viewed by UK Celtic as the team’s long-term manager, sources have told Football Insider.

In an interview with Football Insider’s Insider Track Podcast, Scottish correspondent Daniel Bowers disclosed that Rodgers’ second stint at Parkhead has been marred by an excessive number of on-field and off-field problems, which may compel the board to make a choice.

If the former Leicester City manager doesn’t win the league this year, it’s expected that the board would fire him, but his job is still in jeopardy.

Even though Rangers moved ahead of the Hoops, they are still very much in the running for the championship, but their lead at the top of the table has been eroded by a string of subpar games and lost points.

They have lost three of their last six league games, including their most recent 2-0 setback to Hearts on Sunday, March 3, and their 1-1 draws with Aberdeen and Kilmarnock in February.

Additionally, Rodgers was unable to mount a successful Champions League campaign, finishing with just four points at the bottom of their group.

Last month (19 February), sources told Football Insider that although the board isn’t planning to make a snap decision on his future, issues will be raised this summer.

Additionally, reliable sources have informed Football Insider (20 February) that since rejoining the team, Aaron Rodgers is “unhappy” with the caliber of new additions.

Following their loss against Motherwell on Saturday (2 March), Celtic dropped to second place in the league, but they are still only two points behind rival Rangers.

On Sunday, March 10, they will play Livingston in the Scottish Cup quarterfinals.
