The Super Falconets, Nigeria’s Under-20 female squad, defeated Morocco 2-0 in their opening game of the 2023 African Games.
Nigeria’s male squad lost 2-1 to Uganda on Thursday, which marked a poor start to the 2023 African Games football competition.
The female squad, though, offered the supporters cause for celebration. In their match against Morocco, who have made great strides in women’s football recently, head coach Christopher Dan selected a formidable starting lineup.
The Super Falconets took the lead early on thanks to a goal from Chioma Olise in the 19th minute. Then, thanks to Adoo Yina, the Super Falconets doubled their lead in the fortyth minute.
At the Cape Coast Stadium in Ghana, the Super Falconets’ first-half performance was sufficient as they maintained their 2-0 lead to win the match.

Nigeria is now well-positioned in the competition as a result of their victory. There are just three teams in each group. On Monday, March 11, they play Senegal.
The Super Falconets only need a draw to go to the next round, and given their caliber and performance against Morocco in their first game, they should be able to secure a spot.
