According to Gabby Agbonlahor, Leeds United has had their shot in the Premier League and it would be preferable if Ipswich Town were to gain promotion this year.
In an attempt to return to the top flight as soon as possible, Daniel Farke’s team is now sitting third in the Championship, two points behind Ipswich Town in second place and five points behind Leicester City at the top of the standings.
Agbonlahor has acknowledged that he would prefer to see the Tractor Boys earn “outstanding” back-to-back promotions, despite the fact that many analysts have predicted the Whites to take the second automatic promotion spot this season.
“I want Ipswich to come up, I feel like the story they’ve been on, to get double promotions, two seasons in a row would be outstanding,” he stated in a talkSPORT interview on Thursday, March 7, at 7:28 p.m.
“Yes, Leeds were entertaining, but some of the games they played under Bielsa were suicidal. They had their chance. Imagine the Premier League, and Ipswich.
Despite their incredible season-long form—especially in the latter few months when they appeared to be virtually untouchable under Farke’s coaching—Leeds United may not get promoted this year despite their impressive play.
Despite their recent underperformance, Ipswich has a knack for winning. The Tractor Boys recently defeated Bristol City 3-2, coming back from down twice, despite missing what appeared to be a critical penalty in the second half.
All Farke’s team can do, though, is keep trying to win all three points each and every time they take the field. The outcomes for Leicester or Ipswich are beyond their control, but they can be prepared to strike should either team make another mistake.
Before the season ends, hopefully one of the top two teams in the Championship will lose more points. No Leeds supporter wants to live with the uncertainty of missing out on the playoffs this year.
Good contracts could be on the table for Liam Cooper to leave Elland Road during the summer transfer window, according to recent Leeds United news.
