Among the best in free agency history is the group of running backs who will need to find new homes in 2024; some of these players are available for signing as early as March 13.
Given the lack of outstanding players anticipated in the 2024 class of rookie running backs, teams might be more inclined to sign veterans this offseason.
Five running backs that are available on the free agency market are examined by DAZN.
Jacobs, Josh
The 25-year-old Josh Jacobs, a talented running back, may be on the move after the Las Vegas Raiders decided not to franchise tag him. Just two seasons ago, Jacobs led the NFL in rushing yards. Despite missing the 2023 season due to injury, he still has the ability to improve a team’s running offense.
Derrick Henry
Derrick Henry, a 29-year-old running back, continues to defy the odds despite a brief decline in performance in 2023 prior to the end of his tenure with the Tennessee Titans.
The NFL’s top rusher in four of the previous five seasons and six consecutive seasons with double-digit touchdowns have been achieved by the 2020 Offensive Player of the Year.
Barkley Saquon
Former Offensive Rookie of the Year Saquon Barkley, whose tenure with the New York Giants looks to be coming to an end, is another talent who escaped a franchise tag.
With over 1,000 all-purpose yards in four of his five healthy NFL seasons, the 2018 second-round pick is expected to be one of the most sought-after running backs in free agency.
Austin Ekeler
With his exceptional pass-catching skills to complement his running game, Austin Ekeler has established himself as one of the NFL’s top dual-threat running backs.
Ekeler’s output declined in 2023 after he scored eighteen touchdowns for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022, and he is currently searching for a new place to play. Even though he is 28 years old and not as explosive as he once was, he still has a spot in the NFL.
