In light of rumors of Celtic and Rangers’ interest, Callum O’Hare has already expressed a desire to move. The former England youth international, who is starring for Coventry City, is attracting interest from two Premiership opponents, it has been mentioned. Rangers and Celtic were among the three La Liga teams allegedly keeping an eye on him during a recent game against West Brom.
Transfermarkt values him at £2.1 million, and as he hasn’t signed a new contract, he will be available on a free move come summertime. With nine goals and four assists in the English Championship thus far, he will be in great demand. The Coventry Telegraph was recently informed by Coventry manager Mark Robins that O’Hare is waiting for a Premier League transfer.
He declared: “I believe everyone has figured out by now that Calum wants to leave his options open, and that’s his prerogative.
He wants to keep his options open to see if any Premier League teams are interested in signing him, regardless of whether we end up in the Premier League or not. We have offered him a contract, and a good one at that.
“I think all options are on the table and he just wants to keep them open, and that’s his prerogative.”
Robins also stated to Coventry Live in January, “Look, everyone is aware that Callum isn’t under contract, and there’s going to be a lot of conjecture until he publicly announces his decision. In actuality, however, he has been extended an offer of employment—and an excellent one at that.
“That’s all I have to say about it; in the end, I trust him to decide what’s best for his future. It is absolutely his decision to decide whether or not to go on. He understands our stance on our want to keep him.
All in all, though, he needs to make a choice. He’s only now begun to return after being absent for nearly a year. In the summer, when his contract expires, he will be free to pursue other interests. When he is well-prepared and has his own ideas, his agent will decide. It’s possible that he’s already arrived.
