European powerhouses are interested in former Newcastle player Jonjo Shelvey after he scores a stunning goal.

After departing St James’ Park just over a year ago, former Newcastle United player Jonjo Shelvey is becoming more and more popular in Turkey.

The 32-year-old moved from Newcastle to Nottingham Forest in January of last year, but things didn’t work out there. Before being cut from the team, he made eight appearances for the organization.

He was free to sign for Turkish team Rizespor this summer when his contract was terminated. Since then, he has made an impression for his new team, scoring twice in 23 Turkish Super League games, raising questions about his future.

His most recent goal came in the 3-0 victory over Kayserispor on Saturday. In the sixty-two minute of the match, Shelvey gave his team a 1-0 lead with a free kick that he curled just outside the box and past the goalkeeper.

The incredible goal coincides with rumors that Fenerbahce and Galatasaray are among the teams showing interest in the midfield player. He signed a one-year contract with Rizespor, therefore he only has less than six months left on it.

Galatasaray and Fenerbahce might be choices for Shelvey if he decides to stay in Turkey, according to the Telegraph, but other clubs in Europe are also keeping an eye on his progress. Due to his contract, he is able to discuss his future with teams abroad.

Shelvey joined Newcastle from Swansea City in January 2016 and stayed for seven years in total. During his 202 games with the team, he scored 18 goals.

This season, he has scored two amazing goals, the other coming from Rizespor this past weekend. His only other goal for the team came from his own half, where he found the back of the net after seeing the Istanbulspor goalie off his line.
