The Performance of the Unreliable East Squad Could Drive Offseason Plans

The Los Angeles Lakers’ front office is focused on the summer while the team plays its remaining games. Plans for the offseason are already in place, even if they still want to contend for a title this year. Having decided to hold out until the trade deadline, the Lakers will have three first-round draft picks at their disposal to trade away this summer. Rumor has it that the organization wants to acquire a big name to join LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the locker room this offseason.

But how his present team performs at the end of the season could determine one of the greatest names associated with the Lakers and their future. That would be Atlanta Hawks All-Star guard Trae Young.

Due to his temporary injury, they may decide to move him this summer depending on how well they perform without him. However, when looking at the larger picture at the franchise level, Young’s injury is by far the most intriguing development in a season that was largely forgettable. What happens to the Hawks without him over the course of the next month or so might have a significant impact on Atlanta’s potentially exciting summer… or not.”

Young has always been associated with the Lakers, and this might be the ideal time to make a move with the team this summer. After years of striving to rise above mediocrity, Atlanta may finally have the spark they need if they let go of Young. Young is a terrific third star to complement James and Davis, so the Lakers will be happy to assist them. If all goes according to plan, this summer may be a good one for the Lakers since Los Angeles will have the assets needed to make a move as well.
