The Mavericks “You Gotta Love It,” Kyrie Irving says in response to Celtics fans jeering him.

Every time Dallas Mavericks point guard Kyrie Irving touched the ball last night (3/1) at the TD Garden, he was jeered by Boston Celtics supporters, but the NBA champion didn’t seem to mind.

Irving was a member of the Boston Celtics for two seasons, from 2017–18 to 2018–19.

You have to enjoy it, it’s been six years,” Irving stated, as reported by The Athletic. But they have the right to be offended, quite rightly. In the last few games, I haven’t won, according to my career record. They have complete permission to keep being booby until I defeat them. It is, in my opinion, what adds enjoyment to sports and competitive sports theatrics. It’s just something you have to accept as part of it.

Irving informed Celtics supporters that he would re-sign with Boston in the summer of 2019 prior to the 2018–19 season. The Duke prospect signed with the Brooklyn Nets instead of keeping his pledge, though.

Every time Irving plays in Boston since then, Celtics supporters have jeered and heckled him. When Irving and the other Nets players were making their way to the locker room during the opening round of the 2021 NBA playoffs, a Boston fan hurled a water bottle at him. In 2021, Irving once again trampled on the Celtics logo.

Naturally, everyone is aware of what transpired,” Celtics player Jayson Tatum remarked. However, that was a few years ago. We get along really well, me and him. There are those of us who played with him and are still here, and we get along really well. Although all of us have moved on from it, you must realize that fans are fervent and such. Thus, I suppose that is to be anticipated. However, none of the players have any ill will or hatred for Ky.

The final score was 138-110 in favor of the Celtics over the Mavericks. Irving shot 1-of-7 from outside the arc and 9-of-23 from the field to finish with 19 points.
