Rangers TV analyst calls out “lazy” Cyriel Dessers for his actions during the match against Motherwell.

Lewis Macleod has criticized Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers for being “lazy” in the first half of the Light Blues’ Scottish Premiership match against Motherwell.

James Tavernier’s second-half penalty proved to be in vain as Philippe Clement’s team lost badly 2-1 at Ibrox on Saturday, March 2, severely hurting their chances of winning the championship.

Dessers struggled to participate much in play at the top of the pitch despite his recent impressive performances. Former Rangers midfielder Macleod was quick to criticize the Nigerian international after he squandered a great opportunity in the first half.

He stated, “It’s lazy from Dessers,” in a statement made on RangersTV on Saturday, March 2, at 15:37. Rangers manage to get the corner even if he rejects the initial pass.

After an extremely poor start to his time at Ibrox, there was a lot of discussion during the January transfer window about whether or not Dessers was talented enough to lead the line consistently for Clement and Rangers.

However, the 29-year-old has improved significantly in recent weeks, wow both fans and experts with his goal-scoring prowess. But as the match on Saturday demonstrated, he is far from ideal as a center-forward.

After suffering an early setback in the first few minutes, the striker appeared to be playing a little too slowly as he missed many half-chances in front of goal, including the one that infuriated Macleod in the commentary box.

In the event that the center-forward had a bad day and returns to form in the upcoming weeks, the Gers may come to regret not pressing for a fresh signing during the January transfer window.
