Chris Paul, the former guard for the Phoenix Suns, has never taken home a championship ring, but he still has faith in getting one.
Despite his incredible NBA career, future Hall of Fame floor general Chris Paul, a former player for the Phoenix Suns, is determined to win a title.
Paul stated on “The Why with Dwyane Wade” that “yes, absolutely, even though I think I’m gonna win a championship before I’m done.” Basketball Network (via).
“That’s literally how I’m formed; I can’t even imagine not winning a championship. I do, however, adore what my profession has allowed me to do. It’s weird how things change and life changes, so I’m sure I was stressed about that once. Now that I’m 19 years old, I’m attempting to offer my colleagues a different perspective on this and to appreciate them.”
Paul has had the opportunity to play on a few really talented teams over his career, but he has failed on each one. Paul came the closest to winning a ring during his run in the NBA Finals with Phoenix in 2021; the team led Milwaukee Bucks 2-0 at that point but ultimately lost in six games.
Though Steve Kerr’s squad has significantly underperformed to begin the 2023–24 season with a 35–24 record, Paul—who is currently a member of the Golden State Warriors—was believed to be the final piece missing from Golden State’s jigsaw with well-known players like Draymond Green, Steph Curry, and Klay Thompson.
They are the ninth seed in the Western Conference right now.
Phoenix is ranked No. 5 and is 35–24. Paul was dealt by the Suns to the Washington Wizards during the summer in exchange for Bradley Beal, who was acquired by Phoenix.
After that, Paul was traded for Jordan Poole by the Warriors.
Just 11 games have he started for the Warriors.
