Wolves make a bid for the 20-year-old, one of the most promising prospects in Europe.

Even though the transfer market closed a month ago, Wolves is already planning for the summer and has placed a bid on one of the most intriguing players in Europe.

Molineux is still buzzing with enthusiasm after securing their spot in the FA Cup quarterfinal on Wednesday night while competing in the Premier League for Europe.

With their speed and strength, the Wanderers have been one of the most entertaining teams to watch in the top division this season. They can seriously affect teams that are in transition.

Pedro Neto’s skill, which has led to such success in attack and drawn a lot of notice, has contributed nine assists this season.

Neto was first signed in 2019 as a 19-year-old by Serie A team Napoli, and the team is currently focusing on Rodrigo Gomes of Braga as their next Portuguese talent.

After witnessing the likes of Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota thrive at Molineux, Wanderers have a recent history of snatching up some of Portugal’s finest young talent.

So, it should come as no surprise that Wolves have returned to that market with a bid for Braga’s talented winger Rodrigo Gomes.

According to O Jogo, O’Neil’s team has put up an offer of €15 million (£12.8 million) in an effort to entice him to England. Despite this, Braga president Antonio Salvador has not been persuaded to engage in negotiations since they believe the 20-year-old is worth far more.

The aforementioned price appears pitiful considering Gomes supposedly has a contract that ends in June 2026 and a €45 million (£38 million) release clause.

Currently having a fruitful loan stint at Liga Portugal’s Estoril, the Portuguese under-21 international has made 20 appearances, scoring four goals and dishing out six assists.

For many years, Portugal has been a continual source of talent, and players from the present generation, such Antonio Silva, Joao Neves, and Tiago Tomas, are particularly promising.

Gomes has joined that list following a fruitful breakout season at Estoril, where the 2003-born winger has proven himself to be the next rising star.

The Braga young star, hailed by football talent evaluator Jacek Kulig as one of the most fascinating possibilities Portugal has to offer, is headed for greatness.

Like Neto, Gomes is a quick and direct winger who has also filled in as a wing-back on multiple occasions. Gomes has outperformed his positional contemporaries in a number of offensive measures.

According to FBref, he is among the top 4% in Liga Portugal for progressive carries, the top 3% for assists, and the top 8% for goals scored without a penalty every ninety.

These numbers show what an amazing attacking player he is, and although Wolves could be turned off by his £38 million valuation, he would be a wise long-term investment.
