Brendan Rodgers gives a concerning report on Callum McGregor.

Brendan Rodgers has given an update on captain Callum McGregor’s health following his absence from Friday’s Lennoxtown training session. The Scottish Champions defeated Dundee 7-1 in an exciting match that included some of Rodgers’ best play. However, after the captain scored the sixth goal just before halftime, Rodgers had to substitute him.

During the press conference, the Irish player revealed that the 30-year-old was forced to leave the game against Dundee because of a stiffness in his body.

Callum felt his calf and his achilles a little bit during the week’s halftime. All we need to do is evaluate that and monitor his progress over the course of the next day.

Daniel Jelly, a rookie who scored the seventh goal with an incredible finish, left an impression on Rodgers when the captain had to be substituted. You would think that he might not be ready for the powder keg at Tynecastle despite his performance in the second half.

The captain will now probably be absent for Celtic’s Sunday match against Hearts at Tynecastle. With Kelly and Odin Thiago Holm able to add further depth to the roster, it now looks likely that Paulo Bernardo will join Tomoki Iwata and Matt O’Riley on the team.
