According to Jack Butland, the Rangers required jeers earlier in the season in order to turn things around.
After losing to Aberdeen at Ibrox and then Celtic at home, the team was at its lowest point of the season, and the goalie took the abuse from the supporters. The team is winning games and enjoying a great run of form at the top of the Premiership, thanks to the latter outcome that cost Michael Beale—the man who recruited Butland on a free—his job.
Butland believes that’s partly because of the players’ encouragement and support after they got through a difficult time.
The way they are performed has changed. Fans can tell that we are attempting to do things the correct way. They can tell that when we play games, we’re the superior team,” he remarked.
In the end, the fans start chanting a little bit more freely as they reach the top of the table. They have been amazing for us this entire year. We needed to hear that criticism at the beginning of the season since we weren’t good enough.”
