“Impossible” stand point made by Philippe Clement during the pre-Kilmarnock game time controversy

Since taking over as manager, Philippe Clement has not shied away from rotating his Rangers squad.

The manager of the Gers use rotation to keep his team young and engaged, not merely for the sake of it.

Even though Philippe Clement still has a long list of injuries to deal with, he makes sure to keep his Rangers players motivated when they come to him in search of increased playing time.

His approach is based on science and is designed to implement a strategy that has proven effective nearly from the start.

Since Connor Goldson, John Lundstram, and James Tavernier are so important, it is simply not possible to ask the same players to go to the well time and time again.

In terms of strength, these three players rank among the best in contemporary football.

In an interview ahead of the Rangers’ match against Kilmarnock today, Philippe Clement gave an explanation for why the majority of the team won’t play in every game:

The only way to consistently come out on top and play football the way we want to—that is, with a great deal of intensity—was the same during those times for my other teams as well.

The same 12 or 13 players cannot be used for months at a time, every three days. It isn’t feasible. The group now knows the story. Are they consistently content with that? Nope.

“However, they are ecstatic that they are currently sharing a happy story and that they are winning a lot of games in addition to having enough playing time to shine and be in the spotlight.”

Although it makes perfect logic, it doesn’t always work if the players don’t agree with the manager’s philosophy or the changes he or she is trying to make.

It is evident that Philippe Clement is making his point, and the team as a whole is eager to perform well whenever they get the chance.

They understand that there is equality even though they each have varying degrees of roles to perform and that it is about the collective.

I hope it keeps working because whatever he is telling them is effective.
