After performing admirably at Motherwell, Adam Idah of CORK feels that the pressure of playing for Celtic is bringing out the best in him.

Idah entered the game at Fir Park when Celtic was seriously in danger of losing ground to Rangers in the Premiership title race, with the home team leading by a legitimate margin at the break.

After Luis Palma scored another goal in stoppage time to secure a 3-1 victory and close the deficit to two points, the on-loan Norwich striker saved Celtic with a well-executed double.

“Look, going into any game, there’s going to be pressure,” Idah remarked. Being such a large club with such high expectations for everyone, Celtic is always under pressure.

For us players, I believe pressure is necessary. Although there are difficult moments, we are all capable of handling the pressure and moving forward.

“I feel like I work best under pressure. I get excited about that. That’s the main reason that many football players play the game.

You get that little bit of incentive from that pressure. That’s when I know I perform at my best. Similar to their encounter with Hibernian earlier in the month, Idah scored their second goal four minutes into stoppage time.

“I am aware of late goals and Celtic,” the 23-year-old remarked. “We actually saw the video of Matty O’Riley scoring in the 96th minute against Motherwell before to the game.

However, it’s simply that persistent mindset. From the moment I walked in, I could see it. In training, everyone is incredibly professional and diligent.

“The games display it for you. They never quit up, and in order to see results, everyone is prepared to put in that extra percentage. It worked out wonderfully, as you witnessed on Sunday. Idah scored twice from penalties at Easter Road and was thrilled to double his total for Celtic at Fir Park without using a penalty kick.

It’s clearly quite pleasing, the international for the Republic of Ireland remarked. “You do want to score from open play, but the two penalties were excellent.

“It was amazing for me to do it on Sunday and how it went for my confidence as a striker.

“Since I work in goal-setting, I was thrilled. I’ve come here to try to accomplish it. My goal is to assist the squad and score as many goals as I can.

My teammates are assisting me by placing balls inside the box and using me as their point of reference. We are getting along nicely with each other overall.
