South Africa and Nigeria played their respective matches on Friday as part of Africa’s 2024 Olympic Games qualifying campaign.
Banyana Banyana and Tanzania were playing in the first leg of this penultimate qualification round at the Azam Sports Complex in Dar es Salaam.
Conversely, the Super Falcons traveled to Cameroon for a game at Douala’s Stade de la Reunification.
At Azam Sports Complex, Banyana Banyana easily defeated Tanzania 3-0 on the road.
Ten minutes into the game, South Africa’s Jerman Seoposenswe scored the first goal, followed by a double from Thembi Kgatlana.
Then, with four minutes remaining, Hildah Magaia scored Banyana’s third goal to end the match as a game and give Desiree Ellis’s women a significant lead going into the second leg.
