Writing on his website (28 December), the journalist reports there were suggestions of bringing the Colombian hitman, who has scored 177 career goals, back to Ibrox but they were never taken too seriously.
Morelos is a free agent after being released by Santos, having left Rangers at the end of his contract in the summer after five years after a poor final season where he struggled with disciplinary and fitness issues.
“Infact, there were also suggestions of getting Morelos back to Rangers discussed which were thankfully never taken too seriously,” he wrote.

Phew

Rangers were in need of a striker in the January transfer window undoubtedly, and the signing of Fabio Silva is great news before the window has even opened officially.
Some fans were so desperate to get someone in with our limited finances that Morelos was actually pushed a potential option, but it would have been a terrible idea.
The Colombian was a fan favourite during his time here, but the summer was the perfect opportunity for both parties to cut ties and move on after the relationship began to turn toxic.
This is a new era at Ibrox and under Clement we need to be looking forwards, not backwards, and that’s why even considering the option of bringing back Morelos or Ryan Kent is a bad thing to do.
Thankfully it looks like a non-starter at this point and fans don’t have to pay it any attention, and we can instead look forward to watching a young, hungry talent earn his stripes.
