Rangers to challenge Celtic for striker: Celtic is expected to put up a fight for Rangers in the pursuit of Wolves attacker Fabio Silva.
Rangers reportedly expressed interest in the 21-year-old striker, according to earlier reports from Portugal.
Now that the striker is no longer a factor in Gary O’Neil’s Wolves team, TEAMtalk is reporting that both Rangers and Celtic are keen to recruit Fabio Silva on loan.
Both Celtic, who have struggled offensively this season, and Rangers, who have lost both Danilo and Kemar Roofe to injury, are rumoured to be searching for a striker in January.
Wolves wonderkid hasn’t lived up to his potential.
The Old Firm rivals have frequently squared off in the pursuit of new players, and it appears that Fabio Silva and Wolves may need to make some decisions in January.
The Portuguese striker’s high regard from the Molineux club is evident, as they spent an estimated £35.6 million to sign him from Porto in 2020 after he made his debut as a teenager.
Silva was referred to as “the best number nine coming through his age group anywhere in Europe” at the time by Chinese Chairman Jeff Shi.
Despite the striker’s difficulties, Wolves has maintained Fabio Silva’s strong reputation in the team; in fact, the club gave him a new contract last summer.
In order to “help him develop to be the best player he possibly can be,” Technical Director Scott Sellars stated that the Premier League team sent Silva on loan to Anderlecht after making this decision.
It would seem that Wolves are very much open to sending the striker on loan in order to maximise his potential, given that Fabio Silva has only scored once in ten appearances under the management this season.
Regarding Fabio Silva, Rangers or Celtics?
Rangers and Celtic have real transfer attraction for any player, but it’s especially for those who want to increase their playing time and scoring opportunities.
While dominance is the rule at the Old Firm, Fabio Silva must deal with his team being underdogs at Wolves during the Premier League season.
Securing a player of such talent would be seen as something of a coup for a Scottish side, considering both Glasgow teams are vying for the championship.
But if we set aside sentiments and play both teams against one another, there can only be one victor for Wolves and Fabio Silva.
In the second half of the previous season, Nils Koppen, the director of recruitment for Rangers, was a member of the team that brought Fabio Silva to PSV, possibly mediating any potential trade.
Even though both teams are still vying for awards, only the Ibrox team has European football in the second part of the season when discussing a six-month loan.
